Desal device  



A) sea water is preheated in a semi cylindric concentrator covered with a glass .(green house effect ) .

B) preheated sea water is pumped into the vaporizer of the main device .

C) by vaporizing sea water separation occur .Part of the water become steam (without salt) and the rest of the water with an increase salt concentration is either used for cooling the post turbine steam or is rejected in the sea .

D) the water saturated air flow is forced through the mini pipes made of aluminium .

E) the change in saturation pressure will force part of the water to condensate releasing calories to the air .

F) the fresh water is collected and sent in a reservoir for cooling .

This device should work in places near sea water ,with a hot weather (above 35 degrees ) with a very low humidity level and with winds at least of 2 to 3 meter/second .The performance in sea water desalinisation is most probably not as good as some other sophisticated processes but the manufacturing cost is extremely low and above all ,it does not need any energy source such as electricity or fossil fuel making the cubic meter of water produced nearly free of charge .

latent heat of vaporization :540 cal = 2250 j /g . 1 mol of H2O vapor = 22.4 l =18gr
latent heat of ice fusion : = 334 j/g
for local conditions of : temp = 40 degrees Celsius and wind of 1m/s . There is 36 gr of salt per kg of water .
There is enough energy to vaporize about 15 gr of water (at 40 degrees)/s/square Meter (cubic meter of air ).
For wind of 5 m/s ==> 75 gr/s of water and 2.7 gr of salt /s. ==> 270 kg/h of water and 9.72 kg /h of salt .
Energy needed to cool 75gr of steam to about 50 degrees = 185 000 j = (2250j x 75gr) + (4.18j x 75 gr x 50 degrees ).
If the air is at 80 degrees then per cubic meter we can have about 80 000 joules in specific heat that can vaporize about 30 grs.
There is several ways to precipitate the water .
A)increasing the pressure we change the saturation pressure.
B)by having large surfaces we speed up the re-cohesion forces and thus speed up precipitation.
C)by decreasing the temperature we modify the energy level and the saturation level.
Only C is energy free cost .It is cheaper to increase pressure than reduce the temperature .

To vaporize 1 kg of water at 30 degrees :
(1000 gr x 4.18 joules x 70 degrees ) + (2250 joules x 1000 gr) = 2 542 600 joules

To freeze 1 kg of water at 30 degrees :
(1000 gr x 4.18 joules x 30 degrees ) + (334 joules x 1000 gr ) = 469 400 joules .
